GoChinaAuto.com-Jan.27th, 2010, according to the report released by MAA (Malaysian Automotive Association),in 2009, Malaysia auto production was 489,269 units, decreasing by 8% y-o-y and the total sales volume was 536,905 units, decreasing by 2% y-o-y as well.
Despite of the decrease in 2009, there was a good wish for 2010. Thanks to the Malaysia’s economic recovery, the auto sales had a stronger performance in the fourth quarter, and in December, the passenger vehicles sold 42,465 units and rose 20% compared with that of 2008, the commercial vehicles also rebounded by 17% with a sales volume of 5,203 units at the same period. This tendency was thought to be continue in 2010 optimistically, with the reason of Malaysia’s economy was forecast to rebound to grow 2 percent to 3 percent in 2010 after a slump last year.
It was estimated that MAA, which groups some 40 car manufacturers and distributors, projected sales to rise to 566,500 vehicles in 2011, and to surge to 618,000 by 2014
